Four non-typical gaming blokes from four very different backgrounds and walks of life, met in an already established gaming clan.
Very quickly, these four players realised that they shared a similar passion for gaming, beer and good times. And all possessed a similar, bizarre sense of twisted humor.
Enter... Mad Scouser, Lancashire Lad, Captain Snert and SharkyJack.
It also became apparent that these players shared a hatred for stifling rules and regulations that have somehow become the accepted norm for many online gaming clans.
Stuff that!
It wasn't long before the four decided that the constricting and fun-less regime was detracting them from the whole purpose of online gaming and clans - to simply have fun.
It was time to leave.
With a little research the four learnt that with very little financial outlay they could purchase a domain name, some web space (with cool toys) and a Ventrilio server and maybe seek out new life forms to join them in their quest for virtual world domination.
Digging deep into their pockets, all four stumped up the princely sum of £17.50 each, which equaled a whopping £70.
Next came the hardest part - a clan name.
If you do a little research via Google for gaming clan names you will find all manner of results, most of which are bland, boring and totally unsuitable for this new little collective. They wanted something different. Something that would stand out and accurately represent all that they stood for.
Unfortunately they couldn't think of such a name and settled upon SLAG.
The name is an anagram from the words "Scream Like A Girl", because that's exactly the sound the group would make when being chased by an opponent with a big fucking gun.
Initially, we came up with several ideas for domain names to accompany our Clan name, but decided on purchasing the following:

www.PlayWithASlag.co.uk
The foundations were laid and the good times were about to flow.
Or so they thought...
For various reasons, mainly work related, it was some time before any work could commence on the construction of the clan's website.
This task fell upon SharkyJack as he was the most experienced web designer amongst the group.
Every day for about a month the other members would enquire (nag) poor old Sharky with "is it ready yet? It it ready yet? Is it ready yet?" to which SharkyJack would scream back "Nooooo! Fuck off and stop nagging me!".
Brow beaten and weary from the constant barrage of abuse and whining, SharkyJack had no option but to roll up his sleeves and get on with the job.
Very soon, the group had a website with a forum and the means to start the long quest for other like minded gaming souls.
So this humble little group of four sad, middle aged blokes, with a penchant for football and beer were now officially a clan.
